Fishing Course

After successfully completing this course and examination, you will receive a certificate which allows you to obtain a German Fishing License. This License enables you to purchase permits off-post locations across Germany.

This fishing course will be held in the Garmisch community. The location and additional information will be provided in an e-mail in the week prior to the course start date. If participant contact information changes, please notify the Garmisch MWR staff to inform the instructor team.

Class Times are as follows:
Friday, 17 April 2026: 1800 hours - until complete (estimate 21:00)
Saturday, 18 April 2026: 0900 hours - until complete (estimate 17:00
Sunday, 20 April 2026: 0900 hours - until complete (estimate 14:00)


Prices: $150 per person.
HFSS Membership Prices: : $15 (1 Year), $30 (3 Year), $45 (5 Year), $99 (Lifetime).*
*Mandatory for all participants, can be purchased on signup.


Important information:
All class sessions are mandatory. The instructors come from outside the Garmisch community; there is no time allocated for make-ups.

This course is only available to U.S. Citizens who are I.D. Cardholders and covered under the SOFA with Germany.

IMCOM-E Hunting, Fishing, and Sport Shooting Club membership is required for the course and must be purchased in advance. If you do not already have an HFSS membership, one can be purchased upon signup, instructors will deliver the membership cards the first day of the course. It is not refundable.

Class is open to those who are at least 12 years old, but German law states that participants must be 14 to take the test.

The course is designed to successfully obtain a German fishing license. It is not a clinic to focus on fishing techniques.

Equipment is provided for orientation. Participants are not required to bring their own equipment.

The course requires a minimum of 15 participants and is subject to cancellation if this minimum is not met and maintained.
